Taos Filmmakers Initiative Corporate Changes

It was announced recently that James Lujan is resigning from the three companies he founded with partner D. A. Zivkovich to pursue other interests.

The three companies include the Taos Filmmakers Initiative, a 501c3 educational institution offering classes in the art and craft of filmmaking.  In September, TFI will begin its fifth year of providing professional level instruction to all age groups.

The second company founded by the partners is Taos Productions, Ltd., a film and video production company.  TPL currently has three documentaries in distribution.  Two of the documentaries (High Strange New Mexico and Challenger: An Exploration of Art and Spirit) are available on Amazon.com.  The company is presently in negotiation for the production of two additional documentaries.

Lujan and Zivkovich also founded The Taos Studio Complex, a full service digital media production facility to be built on 20+ acres off Chamisa Road.  Progress on the project is awaiting a vote by Town Council.

“The companies will proceed along the path that James and I planned out for them,”  said Zivkovich.  “Many avenues have opened up for both of us during our association, and James feels he needs to focus elsewhere right now.  I wish him the very best as he pursues these endeavors.”

Lujan’s resignation takes effect 1 August 2004.

COMEONHOME.BIZ:

NEW WEBSITE IS ALL ABOUT THE HOME

During the summer months, when homeowners embark upon projects around the house like landscaping and remodeling, wouldn't it be nice to find one source for all your needs? Where, you ask, the Design Center, or the new showrooms at The Source?  Well, yes, there too, but this is a virtual showroom.
Comeonhome.biz was created by Robin Dorrell and Dan Clavio for all aspects of building, decorating and landscaping.  They wanted to create a site for every home-related product one could think of, from the concrete foundation of your home to the final accent pillow.

Before moving into their new home, Dorrell and Clavio poured over stacks of catalogs for furniture, carpet and tile, garden ideas, etc.  They realized how easy it would be if there were a website for interior and exterior design help in New Mexico.  And voila, comeonhome.biz was born.  "We wanted just one source to search, as opposed to all those catalogs," said Dorrell.

The site consists of categories of home products and services so you can click directly on "Art," "Decorating," "Real Estate" or any of the other categories you want to check out.  Once you choose your category, you will find listings, descriptions and web pages of local businesses that advertise on the site.  "We serve a whole spectrum of needs," says Dorrell.

Each category has a "Hot Tips and Cool Ideas" section as well as a "What's New" page with links to local sites for New Mexico-related issues such as water conservation.  It is important to Dorrell and Clavio to list earth-friendly businesses on their website, including "green builders" and "green designers."

Dorrell's other company, Architects, Designers and Contractors Referral Service, also has an awareness for the environment.  Dorrell created the service in 1994 to match clients who are building a home with architects, builders and other professionals and also to inform people about the design and building process.  The company's website, adcreferral.com, shows both residential and commercial projects that the company put together, beginning with the very first step of introducing clients with architects.  The site also provides many environmentally correct building ideas such as fire-wise construction and using solar energy in building.

Both comeonhome.biz and adcreferral.com offer information on classes at Santa Fe Community College, ranging from energy-efficient Southwest design to alternative building methods.

For more information on building in New Mexico or on home-related products and services, visit adcreferral.com and comeonhome.biz or call (505) 310-4535.
