Fox "News" Unmasked

FROM BUZZFLASH.COM

We watched Robert Greenwald's expose on FOX News,"Outfoxed," and could barely contain our sense of outrage -- and it takes a lot at this point to get BuzzFlash's jaded self REALLY mad.

Greenwald has, through detailed documentation and FOX's own news footage, exposed the radical Republican propaganda agenda of Murdoch's so-called news network. We all know that FOX News is a barely disguised house organ for the Republican Party, but it took months of monitoring the network and some whistle blowers to assemble a documentary that proves, beyond a reasonable doubt, that FOX News is just an extension of the Republican Party/White House spin of the day.

Seeing it laid out in an Emile Zola-style "J'Accuse" indictment really brought home how far America has strayed from a nation where journalism provided the bedrock of information to make democracy work.

FOX News owes more to the propaganda techniques—updated with the latest technology—of Stalin and Goebbels than it does to the American tradition of Tom Paine. FOX doesn't present news; it presents propaganda, White House spin, and high-pitched right wing punditry masquerading as news.

FOX News is the most Un-American media outlet in this nation. It is hypocrisy, propaganda and deception disguised as legitimate journalism.

At the center of the FOX News propaganda operation is the message point of the day, issued by FOX News Senior Vice President, News Editorial, John Moody. These memos, which mandate the spin of the day for ALL on-air "reporting" and commentary are truly chilling, particularly when Greenwald shows how a White House "message point" of the day becomes a FOX News mantra for that day's "coverage." A distinct phrase, which is consistent with the White House spin of the day, is repeated over and over again by on-air "talent." It is Orwellian, disgusting, UnAmerican, and, most certainly, Unfair and Unbalanced

INSERT OBERI'S AD HERE (DAYLIGHT DELIGHTS)

Suicidal Faker Succeeds

A local adolescent, age 20, recently plotted to fake his own death, appearing as a suicide, but surviving, then stealing the life insurance check from his parents, as
was stated in his private journal, which investigators recently found under his bed.
It followed that he would make a video of his supposed "death" and leave it somewhere in house. He had setup a very elaborate setup in the basement, consisting of a hand-sharpened chisel nailed to a board, a shotgun, and a thin translucent-filament net.

Investigators stated that the young man must have been planning to shoot a slug
out of the shotgun, and then fall back onto the "spike" he had made himself.

It would seem however, that he had underestimated his own weight.

Upon firing the shotgun, narrowly missing his head, he fell back. The net however, snapped, dropping him onto the spike.

He was found several hours later by his father. Investigators say the spike had ripped through the boy's heart, and he was probably dead within a minute. (www.darwinawards.com)

Why W. Won't Be 're' Elected
By David Ledderman

That's right, W won't be 're' elected barring some incredible turn of fortunes, like suspending the constitution or a terrorist attack and there are 5 main reasons why.

1. "It's the economy, stupid." This popular refrain harkens back to when Clinton
ran against Bush 1 and will be the same reason that Bush 2 will be a one term president. With the economy still sluggish, gas prices at record highs, and still over 2 million jobs lost during his term in office so far, Bush is losing the bread and
butter issues. According to a May Washington Post/ABC poll 54% of Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy and furthermore 67% believe that he is more interested in protecting large corporations that the interests of people like them.

2. Iraq.  With a plurality of Americans in a recent poll actually wanting to pull ALL U.S. troops out of Iraq Bush is losing badly on this issue. That same Washington Post/ABC News poll found 57% of Americans disapproving of Bush's Iraq policy while only 36% approved. (BTW, 36% is about the % number of voters who are either right wing fundamentalists or hard core Republicans.) As more and more
US soldiers die there and no weapons of mass destruction are found, Bush's
reason for going there, being there, and staying there will find less and less popular support and more and more angry voters, especially in what should be an easy base for Bush, the military and vets.

3. The elites want him out. That's right, those super-wealthy corporate people
want Bush out. Expect to see more and more negative press on Bush from the corporate media as the elite gears up to kick Bush out of office. He has become
an embarrassment to them which leads to reason number 4.

4. Fahrenheit 9/11. Despite of what you think of Michael Moore this film attacks the notion that Bush is a good guy, down to earth, conservative. It makes him out to be a superficial, arrogant Texas frat boy fascist, all using words that came out
of Bush's own mouth, like "If this were a dictatorship it sure would be a heck of a lot easier."  Bush in this movie has practically sealed his fate as a one term
president with disregard of the average American and his fondness for the super-wealthy, 'the haves and the have mores' who he calls 'his base' in the movie.

5. Howard Stern. Yes, you read that correctly, 'shock jock' Howard Stern is a major reason that Bush will be a one term president. With a larger voting block than Hispanics, Howard Stern voters are a huge swing vote, with many of them
still undecided. Why is Howard Stern important? Howard Stern in the past has helped Republican candidates in NJ and NY to get elected and is (or at least was) very good friends with Republican big wigs like ex NY senator Alfonse D'Amato. Now Stern is incensed at Bush and the FCC for what he feels are unfair tactics in trying to silence him after he made an anti Bush comment on the air. Stern has
done a political 180 and has disavowed his past fondness for Republicans and rips Bush a new a&*hole on a nearly daily basis. Expect his listeners to heed
Howard's word and vote for Kerry en masse this November and be enough of a factor for key states like PA, Ohio, Oregon, and Florida to go Kerry's way.

Just one of the above 5 reasons would be enough to defeat Bush in November. Taken together it is doubtful that Bush will get much more than his base of about 40%, especially if things get worse in Iraq or economically.
